The Centre opens at 08:00. The shopping mall closes at 18:00 with the Car Park entrance open til 23:00. The leisure mall closes after the last film at Vue Cinema. Sundays the Centre opens at 09:30 or before the first film at the cinema. The Centre remains open in line with late film showings at the cinema.
You may wish to check with a particular store but, in general, shops trade 9:00 - 17:30 (Sundays 10:00 - 16-00 or 17:00).
PLEASE NOTE: Bank holidays are traditionally Sunday hours however individual store opening times may vary.


By Car:

The Kennet Centre is located in the South of Newbury town centre accessible via the A34 and A339. Our car park can be found by taking the 3rd exit onto Bear Lane, signposted town centre, from the police roundabout along the A339., Turn left onto Cheap Street and right onto Market Street. Use right-hand lane for access to car park.

Multi-storey Car Park - use RG14 5LL  (turning right for entrance) for satellite navigation

Other parking - use RG14 5LD for satellite navigation

Centre Management Office - use RG14 5DP  (turning right to service deck) for satellite navigation

By train:

The Kennet Centre is just a short walk from Newbury Train Station. Exit onto the main train station car park and turn right, follow road all the way round and the centre is directly in front of you.

By bus:

The main bus station is located directly opposite the centre.

Access to The Kennet Centre car park is 24 hours, however the gates will be open to match the cinema opening times, after which access is via the ticket.


We provide attended public toilets,  these are located in the cinema mall. Both male and female sections have baby changing facilities. Our toilets are open from 8:30 and close at 17:45


Adapted Toilets

We are proud to be able to offer our disabled visitors the Changing Places facilities.  They are purpose built for our customers with profound and multiple learning disabilities, as well as other serious impairments such as spinal injuries, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis or an acquired brain injury, people who often need extra facilities to allow them to use the toilets comfortably.

Changing Places toilets are different to standard disabled toilets with extra features and more space to meet these needs.  The toilet provides:

A height adjustable adult sized changing bench.

A tracking hoist system.

Adequate space in the changing area for the disabled person and up to two carers

A disabled shower

The wheelchair adapted unisex toilets are located next to the public toilets in the new mall.       

Disabled Access Lifts

Kennet Shopping is mainly on one level, however lifts are provided for access to Vue cinema.

Code of Conduct

Kennet Shopping has a responsibility to all visitors to provide a shopping environment that is acceptable to everyone. The Kennet Centre wishes to encourage an atmosphere that does not offend visitors' values or beliefs and therefore upholds the code of conduct, which reflects socially acceptable behaviour.

We consistently aim to maintain high standards and do not permit the following:
Intimidation of our visitors by groups or individuals
• Behaviour that is considered unacceptable to the environment
• Pets, with the exception of assistance dogs
• Shopping trolleys on the malls, other than designated areas
• Vehicles within the centre, excluding mobility-scooter and wheelchairs

Ensuring that visitors are free to shop and relax the following is not permitted:
• Leafleting, canvassing or conducting third party interviews or surveys unless authorised by Centre Management
• Unauthorised busking or selling of goods in the mall, car parks and associated areas

To ensure the health and safety of visitors we ask that everyone respects and shows due consideration for the Centre environment by:
• Not cycling, roller-blading, using micro-scooters, skateboards or Heeley's in the centre
• Not climbing or sitting on any balustrade, barrier, fence or railing
• No playing of ball games
• No swearing, shouting or use of other offensive words
• No inappropriate use of customer lifts and escalators
• No filming or photography unless authorised by Centre Management
• The wearing of shirts / tops and footwear at all times
• Removing crash helmets upon entering the centre

The following legal conditions must be adhered to:
• Both legislation and the Centre's own smoking policy
• Alcohol is only to be consumed within premises that hold a relevant license
• Any act of vandalism towards property belonging to Kennet Shopping or our retailers will be dealt with accordingly and the Police will always be informed

Kennet Shopping reserve the right to deny a person / persons entry to its property and has the right to escort them from the centre. In addition to this, any person who persistently ignores any of the above or commits a crime will be excluded for a time period to be determined by Centre Management.
